The Statement
As an artist, I would like to spread my beliefs using the drawings I create. I may only draw things that come to me spontaneously, or design things I randomly come up with, but they all have a meaning when taken a closer look at. Animations, books, history, television, internet – all inspire me, and they were the initial reason why I started drawing using pencil and paper, moving on to pen, then dropping the pen and going back to pencil, and then learning how to color on the computer.
I draw because it’s fun and relaxing, and in a broader sense, lets my ideas and morals and interests be known. I can blend styles – for example, I drew the school’s Anime Club mascot with the idea of blending together a slew of genres…and it won the mascot contest because of that very reason. Even better, it was fun to try to figure out.
All in all, I love art and hope that I can have a life full of it, no matter what I do. I started drawing in hopes of becoming a mangaka (artist/writer of graphic novels), but that stemmed into becoming a fashion designer, illustrator, and short story author all in one, which is important to that mindset. My art has evolved even from the beginning of this year, becoming more realistic proportion-wise and testing myself with new poses, which I hadn’t exactly attempted before. But I knew that once I started, I would never want to stop.
